COUNSELING
Everyone experiences stress, conflict, sadness, and anxiety at times in one’s life so how do you know when it is a good time to see a therapist? If you are experiencing problems that seem too difficult to handle alone, and you are facing personal challenges that you would like to discuss in a safe, confidential manner with a trained professional, it may be a good time to try therapy. Therapy can provide support through difficult times, life transitions, job loss, relationship issues, and help people who are suffering from a general feeling of hopelessness, stress, emotional pain, or disconnection from friends and family.
ADOLESCENTS AND YOUNG ADULTS
Sometimes there are changes in your teen’s mood, behavior, or school performance. It can be difficult to know if increased irritability, anger, or anxiety, or peer group change is age appropriate or whether it represents something more significant. Adolescence and young adulthood can be a confusing time to navigate. Effectively managing academics, friendships, planning for college, work, and life beyond can feel overwhelming. Whatever the issue may be, meeting with a therapist can help ensure that current problems do not become more serious. Speaking with a caring professional can provide helpful insight, support, and self understanding.
NEUROPSYCHOLOGICAL EVALUATION
Sometimes there are questions regarding your child’s development and you suspect a delay in one or more areas, such as language or attention span, or you may have a concern that your child could have autism. Sometimes there is a question about a possible learning disability due to difficulty mastering reading, weaknesses processing information, or difficulty comprehending in class. Sometimes, there is a significant emotional concern and it is difficult to clarify the exact nature of the problems presenting at home or in school and the specific impact of learning, emotional, and cognitive factors. A neuropsychological evaluation can provide the answers that you want to difficult questions.
